Our story
From founding in 1974 to takeover in 2007
As Trivec, we have done so with a history of over 50 years. Founded in 1974, for many years we have been active in sustainable solutions for the parquet, paint and lacquer industry in the Netherlands and abroad. After years of successful and innovative entrepreneurship under the name VEC, the business activities were taken over in 2007 by Branko Westra and his uncle Piet Geertsma. Together they expanded these activities within a few years with sales throughout Europe and beyond. A period in which VEC changed its name to Trivec.
From a small garage to world wide business
Starting from a small garage in Jubbega, Friesland (the Netherlands), Trivec has grown to a world wide business by listening carefully to customers and finding the right solutions. We have become a trusted supplier of machines and innovative solutions for processing various surfaces, including those for the paint and painting industries. Our offerings range from compact gluing solutions to sustainable cleaning systems for ecologically responsible cleaning of materials. We also provide solutions for processing handling of the finished products. As our operations expanded, we outgrew our initial location and, after several moves, Trivec finally settled at our current site in Sumar, Friesland (the Netherlands).
A strong base in engineering and production
Operating as Trivec Engineering since 2023, Acowood also has a rich history by delivering engineering solutions. For over 20 years, we have been providing technical expert advice, as well as engineering and manufacturing of conveyor systems and various solutions for product handling and finishing equipment. Our journey in this business line began in a farmhouse in Oosterwierum, Friesland (the Netherlands), and has grown into the current modern factory with a large, professional production hall. Today, we are designing and manufacturing machines for the parquet and woodworking industry and other branches and we are proud to be official Service Partner of Wagner, global supplier of coating equipment.
The merger in 2023 to the current Trivec
As Trivec and Trivec Engineering, formerly operating as Acowood, we have strengthened both our business activities for many years. This has established a close cooperation to create customised solutions for our customers. Since 2018, we have jointly moved into our current premises with large production facility in Sumar, Friesland (the Netherlands). And from that moment on, the cooperation became closer and closer. This eventually resulted in the merger of both companies, where we are jointly helping our customers. From 2024 on all under the name Trivec.
Shaping the future together
In more than 50 years, Trivec has become a strong business partner in delivering sustainable machining solutions and equipment for surface treatment and process handling, high-quality service and maintenance and providing training to our customers, so that after delivery, they can independently realise their business growth using our solutions. Solutions that we can often show and demonstrate live in our Trivec Experience Centre at our facility in Sumar, Friesland (the Netherlands). You are welcome visiting us for the best experience!
Our organisational structure
To help our customers in the best possible way, we have three business units within Trivec, each with its own specialists. In this way, we create focus on our customers’ specific question. For example, one client may have a question that can be solved very well with existing solutions from our Surface Solutions or Equipment Solutions. Another customer has a very specific question that can only be answered with an innovative approach and development process. We provide this from our Engineering Solutions.
